"How To Have Fun With Your Socks"

Nope! Not making this up! I bought new socks for Alex. I toss him the package and he starts laughing. Not just the usual smirk or chuckle ... LOL kind of laugh.

I'm puzzled, thinking ... "are socks that funny?"

He says ... "Mom, did you read the Nutrition Facts?"

"What? .... There are no Nutrition Facts on Socks."

He says, "Did you read the label & instructions?"

"What? We need sock instructions?"

He says ... "LOOK"

Sure enough ... Nutrition Facts on the socks.

And

"HOW TO HAVE FUN WITH YOUR SOCKS

Use as a hand puppet
to entertain during
business meetings.
Or better yet,
place over your shoes
and slide around.
Pull over your cellular
phone as a cover.

(not recommended for dusting)"

***** ***** ***** ***** *****

Finished reading this one last night. Now, I seem to have more questions about the novel! To me, seems the book concluded without an ending. Aside from wondering about the two teachers ... I cannot help thinking about what happened to the teen daughter.

This would be great for a book club. The more ideas & thoughts the better.

Tori's Tree

After wondering about our flowering trees, I am pleased they are budding and blooming. Even some of the tulips decided to show their colours!

This is Tori's Tree. It is half red & half white - I think some sort of hybrid crab tree. It was planted years ago. In the yard, it looks quite the mystery!

Cannot be on-line long. Waiting for call-backs re. Summer Jobs. Keeping my fingers crossed.

This was a nice book. I have a hardcover from the library & there are quilt blocks inside which help in the reading of the text. Having a visual along with the text makes the story complete.

some parts of this book were already disclosed in the previous book; however, not in an annoying way.

I don't have any more in this series. I'll have to look them up on-line and see what is next. So far, I liked the first one I read the best!!

Fun Book to read ...

Only problem is that as I read these books, I itch to quilt!! Not like I need more hobbies : ) This one is a paperback & I think a few pictures would have been nice. Going on-line & seeing a picture of the finished quilt is ok -- still, would be nice in the book. Maybe there are photos or illustrations only in the hard cover novels.

I have another book from this series - called Christmas Quilt. Not sure if it matters to read them in order. I also see one of her new books is on the New York Times Bestseller's List. Alright. Maybe she will get more readers : )

"What do you DO?" she asks a SAHM ...

Yeah, what do I do?? All day long?? While the boys and DH are away?? Today, I've done some laundry ... dusting ... walked the dogs [many times] ... cleaned the litter pan ... started to read a new book ... and tried to make corn bread.

OK .... a side-by-side comparison of a MIX vs
cornbread from scratch. Yes, we already know what the Jiffy mix will taste like. The other pan -- well, it is HEAVY. Doesn't taste bad. Did I mix it enough? Too much? Why does it have that sink in look in the corner of the pan???

I think I need a different recipe. I don't bake. Mainly, because I'm not very good at it. But, this cornbread is very very heavy. Maybe I should invest in some new Baking Powder -- this can is dated Feb 87.

Anybody have a decent recipe??? I've already tried the one on the corn meal pkg.

She said to me: "you haven't read Jennifer Chiaverini?". OK, I've heard of her ... but, no, haven't READ any of the Elm Creek series. YESTERDAY, I looked up the web site & in the afternoon, I went to the public library & found the books [with the help of Alex].

I checked out this one -- which starts "Chapter One 1849".

Maybe I should have read them in the order they were published???

I like what I've read this a.m. It has interesting characters. The new schoolmaster is described between girlfriends: "He's handsome in a bookish way, but I suppose that suits his profession." The novel seems easy to read & I am enjoying reading about this party in honour of the new schoolmaster!

Queen Stitch

I've got a photo to share with you of some stitch samples I made up a couple years ago. I was practicing the queen stitches & was using strawberry motifs I found in sampler books. IMO - using ONE strand of silk or perle cotton creates a more even stitch than cotton floss. I like using silk. The coverage is very good!

Another batch of flowers from the gardens

Delightful blooms!

The temperature had dropped to 31 degrees with 45 mph winds ... leaving the wind chill readings at 12 degrees. Brrr .... it is really nippy outdoors. Lots of the spring flowers are taking a wind beating.

We may even see some snow flurries AGAIN. What is with that????
