IOLI: Introduction to Bobbin Lace (2nd post)

 Continued from previous post ....

The next project:

'Continental Bobbin' - needs a re-do, a few mistakes!
cKaren H Thompson, 2020

I used perle coton No 8:   colors 3823, 392, 353, 818, 644, 758

There is a bonus pattern included [which I have not attempted], Jean Jagendorf's Midland's Bobbin.   I have the lace bobbins wound, and hope to give it a try (soon).

The final project:  First Torchon Sampler

Pattern:   cKaren H Thompson, 2020

I am using perle coton No. 8:  colors 743, 799, 224, 471, and 3042.  I need to finish it!

I learned A LOT in 4 days.   Loads of thx to Karen Thompson & IOLI.  Fingers crossed there will be another Bobbin Lace class beyond the basics.   Meanwhile, practice, practice, practice : )   Cross - Twist - repeat

If you are interested in taking A 12-Hour Introduction to Bobbin Lace , it is being offered via the Lace Museum.   Link Here:   https://thelacemuseum.org/workshops.html.

A few weeks ago, I was a participant in IOLI's Introduction to Bobbin Lace class, via ZOOM.

This was my first project - 'Introductory Sampler'

I used perle coton No. 8, colors 743, 758, 3042, 498, 799, 471

The second project - 'Bracelet, bookmark or bobbin holder'
cKaren H Thompson, 2020

I used perle coton No. 8, colors 799, 743, 471.

It was suggested, that we practice using the Introductory sampler
in multiple fiber colors [I used Lizbeth fiber (size 20) - 1st photo below],
using the same color of fiber [I used perle coton (No. 8) - 2nd photo below],
and try tatting cotton in multiple colors [I used Lizbeth (size 80) - 3rd photo below].

In the evenings after the class:

Lizbeth Size 20:  colors 631, 615, 622, 649, 686, 696

Perle Coton No. 8:  color 3823
