Next

From the Netherlands, Fish shape tatting shuttle..
ETSY store:   https://www.etsy.com/shop/Banyek.

The enameled copper butterfly piece,
is Butterfly Tatted Edging Pendant.
Up next on my table.   The instructions in the kit,
c.2020 Gretchen L. Miller,
encourages tatters to "personalize your butterfly as you tat".  Suggested adding seed beads - create bead picots for sparkle, change picot lengths.    So, I'm trying to be creative,
searching thru my beads - and I find this elegant HDT by Marilee, (Blog:  https://yarnplayertats.blogspot.com/) HDT fiber: Link to Marilee's new on line store.
https://goimagine.com/marileestatting/.   Thinking I may use
Marilee's HDT and see how it comes out.

The little motif, in photo, from Motifs for Marie.
Motif #23.   Lizbeth size 20, Col. 185.
This charming book (copyright Kaye B. Judt 2009) has
many small motifs.   As far as I am aware, can
still be purchased thru tatting stores/vendors.

The Evening Star Quilt Guild of Anderson IN decided to use tatted motifs for flower centers in their quilt.
The "Marie" is Marie Webster - home in Marion, IN.  I
have not been there. https://quiltershalloffame.net/.

 I've been doing
well emptying shuttles of fiber left overs on the tatting shuttles.
Still have a few to go ....
I turn them into the Indiana Lace Chapter, https://lafayettelacemakers.blogspot.com/, Lafayette Lacemakers ... The lace samples are attached to chapter business cards and distributed at public events.

Road Trip .... to the Tatting Corner

I was impatient, waiting for the thunderstorm to pass by --- then, hit the road.    Had an errand for DH in Indianapolis .... then on to The Tatting Corner.

Picked up (and purchased) Kaye B. Judt's book -- More O'This + Tat.    I hope to get tatting on some of these projects.   I like the fan, the butterfly, and was interested in the shamrock (could it hold 3 small ice drops???), etc.   Very nice patterns.  While there, I also picked up some Anchor fiber and Bellatrista (milk protein fiber).   Not sure about the Milk yarn ... thought it would make a pretty necklace or bracelet, or something.

Did you know Jenni C (from Australia) was visiting?   All heading to Tat Days in Georgia Weds morning.  She makes stunningly beautiful fobs.   I chose the silver one with owl and blue beads.   So pretty!!!   She also had BIRCH tatting ( post ) shuttle -- with bobbin in the package.   What?   For real.  This was much discussed on the Tatting Shuttle Addicts FB page.    Delighted to have in my tatting shuttle collection.   And did you see the pink scissors?  So light weight, colorful, and favourite -- nice points, sharp!!!  New-to-me HDT fiber, "Bloom" S20, 45m, AlenAleaDesign on Etsy.   Thx Jenni - you are so generous.... it was so nice to meet you in person after only knowing you by reading Facebook posts!!!   Safe travels wile in USA and on your way back to Australia.

And, a little something for Jenni .... origami bag, ort container, and a box of little treasures!!!   I also tucked in 'peace' , Yarnplayer's HDT fiber.

If you have not read Sharon's post
Are You a Shuttle Hoarder --- head on over!!!
What a hoot.   Sharon blogs at

Motif #5 in Lizbeth 632 and Lizbeth 663

Motif #6 in Lizbeth 615 and Lizbeth 632 - tension, tension, tension.   + a few doodles!   I like to have empty shuttles.   And, I must be a hoarder.   I seem to own a bunch - and like the variety of colors, sizes and styles.

From:  Motifs for Marie
by Kaye B Judt

Saw this on facebook, went to a few Target stores - and found one.   Too cute ; )    I see on the box there is a collection of FIVE.   The other four look to be the same doll in different clothing.   Would be nice to see the clothing sold separately.   I'm just sayin.

60 Minutes of tatting

Needed to empty some shuttles.    These two motifs didn't use much fiber!   I purchased this book at the 2011 Indiana Lace Day.   The author, Kaye Judt, was kind enough to autograph.     These motifs are small and I enjoy tatting them.

If you enjoy creating minitats ... check out this link to a lovely pattern, called Cherry Heart Blossoms (pdf) by Grace O B Tan.    Or, check the IOLI Library listing for pattern books which are available on loan.

Another book, which I own, with smaller tatted motifs, is called Motifs for Marie by Kaye B. Judt.
