Front and back. I made the 'starch' 50% white glue and 50% water. dabbed it on and let dry 24 hrs. Cut out (carefully) the back.
Still working on cutting around the fibers. Talk about holding my breath to cut the fabric out!!
Somehow, I think the stiff-stuff makes the perle coton matte. It no longer has that beautiful DMC sheen. And colors seem darker. Learning something new everyday.
For the next piece, I may try to block -- same way I block with tatting. Pin down and spray water. When I need to block tatting it doesn't take away the sheen of the fiber.
Stay tuned. This may take awhile.
Next four sessions / Nanduti 1 Class starts in a couple weeks. Can you imagine creating something like this? I have some coton perle size 12 (DMC) that are in softer shades -- looking forward to lacing a new piece of cloth to the frame.
