Playing with fibers on the Zoom Loom

Having very little knowledge of yarns + weaving fibers,
I used a wool/silk 50/50 HD fiber on the loom.
Was too thin with one strand, so tried with 2 strands.
The square is colorful and light!

The fiber was a gift from Marilee, blogging at Yarnplayer.

Will continue to experiment with some stash tumbling around the closet:
and, I'm so curious about this textured stuff ...

I have an order placed with WEBS (having an Anniversary Sale going on) + hope the yarn is as yummy in hand as shown on their web site.     I visited the Schacht site today, looking at their projects (newsletter + pdf files) and saw how they attach the squares together - on the diagonal, straight edge-to-edge, etc.     Right now, I'm just 'playing' with fibers, and ignoring the household chores.   Maybe some day will get an idea and actually complete a project using the squares!!!

Curious?

Had a few e-mails ... so, here are links re. Zoom Loom:

The Zoom Loom (TNNA 2013) video

Diane sent this link to me:  eLoomaNation.   Tips, directions, projects .... a good plact to start.

Jane Patrick, blogging at  Violet Rose, has a few posts about the Zoom Loom.  The first project (in a series) designed for the loom is a lovely bag, nice instructions / pattern.   Follow this LINK to her post "Zoom Loom - the pin loom with a difference."

Michelle, blogging at Hooks + Heddles, has a few posts about the pin loom.   Check out the lovely bag on her blog post Weavette Bag.

How about flowers?   Ah, yes.   Check out the post:   Where have all the Flowers Gone - Link HERE.

Check your magazine library:    There is an article in the March/April 2010 issue of PieceWork magazine by Robin Hansen on making an afghan with weave-it loom; also, directions for pillow or chair pad to make.    Link HERE

Oh, I don't know why .....

but, sure looked like FUN when I saw this on Diane's blog.

I started with wrapping yarn in three directions, and then
weave the fourth direction.    Makes
a 4"x4" square - and once i got thru the directions,
the 2nd square went much faster.

The Schacht 4x4 pin Loom was
purchased from WEBS.   Link Here.
Their FB page HERE.
I cannot say enough positive things about their customer service!

The practice yarn I have is BERNAT Baby Coordinates.
Pretty stuff.

This yarn is called Funny Prints.

Maybe some day, when I have a ton of little squares,
I might sew them together!!!
