IOLI: Introduction to Bobbin Lace (2nd post)

 Continued from previous post ....

The next project:

'Continental Bobbin' - needs a re-do, a few mistakes!
cKaren H Thompson, 2020

I used perle coton No 8:   colors 3823, 392, 353, 818, 644, 758

There is a bonus pattern included [which I have not attempted], Jean Jagendorf's Midland's Bobbin.   I have the lace bobbins wound, and hope to give it a try (soon).

The final project:  First Torchon Sampler

Pattern:   cKaren H Thompson, 2020

I am using perle coton No. 8:  colors 743, 799, 224, 471, and 3042.  I need to finish it!

I learned A LOT in 4 days.   Loads of thx to Karen Thompson & IOLI.  Fingers crossed there will be another Bobbin Lace class beyond the basics.   Meanwhile, practice, practice, practice : )   Cross - Twist - repeat

If you are interested in taking A 12-Hour Introduction to Bobbin Lace , it is being offered via the Lace Museum.   Link Here:   https://thelacemuseum.org/workshops.html.

and try tatting cotton in multiple colors [I used Lizbeth (size 80) - 3rd photo below].

TEN years ago ....

.... GF, Mel & I had our FIRST tatting lesson.     We went to House of Stitches in LaPorte & created rings - n - chains.

Also, TEN years ago .... I purchased my first tatting shuttle.   A yellow Tatsy for the class.   After our tatting lesson, I picked up a few more shuttles to see which style seemed easier to use!    The beginning of my shuttle collection.

A couple weeks later, DS-Nicholas, gave me his plastic organizer for my "tools".   I had a few crochet cotton balls in my craft supplies and purchased some nicer tatting fiber.   TEN years ago.   How time passes quickly!
