From the Tatting Corner

Such a beautiful tatting shuttle.   This is by Emiko,  Japanese artist, "Winter Rose" painted (Clover brand) shuttle.

The Tatting Corner in Anderson Indiana has them in stock.   I don't think the photographs do justice to the artist!

Check out all of the shuttles and products at www.tattingcorner.com.

books!

GF, Denise, sent a nice e-mail telling me about Cathy Bryant's book, Tatting.    She had so many wonderful things to say about it --- that I looked on line & found on alibris site.    It is considered "complete beginner's guide to tatting" ; however, the information is very valuable (IMO) to those already tatting!    The nice step-by-steps, illustrations, and even a few patterns.   If you get the chance, give it a read.

Also, I recently acquired Tatting Lace 101 - Edging & Motif ideas
(ISBN978-4-529-05695-3. )  80 pgs.
Beautiful photos.   Excellent step-by-step & numbered diagrams.

Photo heavy post --Tollway Tatters

Edited 10/26/2017

Saturday was a gathering of the Tollway Tatters.   The first three photographs are tatted motifs by Diane (Lace-Lovin' Librarian) from (link HERE

Tatting PATTERNS - Snowflake Variations

I could not imagine tatting snowflakes in these colors -- so I HAD to photograph and share.   Aren't they awesome?

Not wanting to repeat her post .... think of this as  kind of part two of Lace-lovin' Librarian's blog post!

Please visit Diane's blog post, A Fun Filled Saturday,  ( link HERE ) as she has GREAT photos.   Diane blogs over at Lace-lovin'Librarian.

This is the front cover of the tatting book:  Snowflake Variations by Robin Perfetti.   I paged thru & thought the diagrams were spectacular!  Looks like I need to add this title to the tatting library!

Sue Anna brought kits for all of the tatters.   It had Karey Solomon's pattern "Easiest Ice Blossom" - with beads, ice drop, and size 10 Yarnplayer's HDT "Spooky"  .

This one was tatted by Denise.   Denise used smaller beads and size 20 tatting fiber.   It is interesting how the different sized thread and color combinations make the pattern look different!!!    When Denise was home, she sent me this picture of her drops:
Denise also found some lovely drops to share - and a small bag to match!!!   Sweet ....

The next few photographs are Barbara's tatting.   Oh my.   A few months back, I shared some flat beads that I found at JoAnn Fabrics.   Barbara tatted away!!!   Some with ice drop pieces, and some with decorated beads.   It is really nice to buy a pkg or strand and share/swap!   It enhances our collections ; )

Below, a blue bead with lovely butterfly patterns (close up)

Below, a pumpkin Barbara tatted.

Below, another bead in the center - tatted by Barbara.   So pretty!!!!

Barbara sent me this photograph 10/26 ... of her embellished drops:

In this photo, Barbara embellished the two ice drops on the left - with glitter polish and underneath some images from a photographer (or photographer magazine).   She also shared a container of what reminded me of FLAT marbles - these two have what reminded me of yellow flowers!     The larger one in the middle was shared by Mary .... a better image below.
See how COOL these are?   They are embellished glass pieces with glass ink!   Made and shared by Mary.   (photos above and below).   I don't know if Mary has a blog - I probably should have asked her.
Mary was needle tatting (photo on Diane's blog post.).    Also, Nancy was needle tatting a lovely necklace.   Was natural color with pastel beads.   So pretty!   And thank you Ana for the wonderful Honey beverage - was great for the drive home!

Above, another photo of the ice drop piece from Mary - AND, some new-to-me metallic fiber.   Diane shared some yardage.   It is a DMC product she purchased from Shuttle by Design - it is called DMC Diamant, metallic thread, 35m/38.2 yd   .

I added some more to my tatted edge (#1143).  I keep it on a Magical edging keeper -- better image here.   I find this little tool keeps my edge stored nicely!!!   As for the pattern ...  This tatting pattern can be found in the Helping Hands Newsletter, Vol 20 issue#3, pg 10 -- Fall 2012.  Originally published:  Old and New Designs in Tatting by Sophie T. LaCroix, Book No. 11.

Tollway Tatters

Ana.  Her project was "Wondrous Window" earring pattern
by Marilee Rockley from Up and Tat 'Em.

Elaine.  A needle tatter!  The photo (below) is a spiral she was creating.
and, I have to make mention .... She designed her own tee shirt with dye in squirt bottles.  She made her own stencils with contact paper (x-acto knife) and ended up with a very creative tee.

Denise  on the left, Barbara on the right.  Denise had all the ingredients for ice drop production.   She things BIG and wants to create oodles, to gift this week.   Innovative color choices, and speedy tatter!    She is making them based on ladybug, emerald ash borer bug, think - nature inspired pieces.
Denise tatted around a copper penny (show-n-tell).   Fabulously interesting!

Barbara's tatted snowflake project (show-n-tell).  Barbara was piloting a new-to-her tatting shuttle in photo above.
 Denise (left) and Barbara (right).

Sue Anna sporting a stunning new jewelry set (show-n-tell).  It is a Marilee Rockley set!     Close up of earring in photo below.
Yesterday, Sue Anna was tatting the earring pattern with different beads and fiber colors.    The pattern is in the book, Tatting with Beads Jewelry (link here).  Photo below.

Here is Marilee on her carbon fiber cello - she played a piece from Fantom of the Opera.  (I think).    Diane has the video!!!    She is one talented artist!    Teacher, designer, fiber dyer, tatter, and friend.  And, yes, after her solo, she tatted and chatted with all of us.   So helpful with our tatting issues (ie Catherine Join, keeping the tatting flatter, etc.)

And look who came from Michigan!   Delighted to chat and see Sue's latest sun catchers.   She creates wonderful patterns for ice drops and sun catchers.   (If you look at Diane's blog post, she has more photos of the projects).  Or, check out her creations on her blog, Tatting Lace in Grace.     While I was trying to change a pattern to make it look different (after 2 trys - realize it doesn't work out), Sue eyes it for half a second and diagnoses a fix!   A tatting mechanic!

Here is Diane.  Can you guess what she is making?   Could it possibly be an ice drop?    More photos at Lace-Lovin'Librarian's (link to blog posts HERE).       See the box in front of her -- yep, indeed, Yarnplayer HD threads.   They look so much better in hand than in photos (on my computer screen).   If you have not given them a try --- do so soon!     These came home with me -- Nitty Gritty, Peace, and Stardate.     Oh, that "Peace" fiber color is probably my favorite.

When I had HDT by Yarnplayer, 50/50 wool/silk, I knitted with it - and made square on my pin loom.   It is a beautiful colorway - and I've enjoyed using it.   ( color Peace  ).
