Needle Lace for Community Lace Project

I admit not having much needle lace experience.
The beginner instructions are step-by-step & I'd like to participate.

This Community Lace Project is interesting to me.
Leaves!!!   I found the information in the IOLI link and Maggie Hensel Brown's page.

From Facebook:     Community lacemaking with Maggie Hensel Brown an opportunity to celebrate St. Catherine's Day. Full details of Maggie's Community Lacemaking Project can be found here: https://www.maggiehenselbrown.com/community-lacemaking
She needs hundreds (if not thousands) of needle lace leaves as per the description on her website to create a work of art to be exhibited in Sydney Australia in May.

Leaves must be received by March. This effort is also being supported by the IOLI in the form of a challenge. https://lacechallenge.internationalorganizationoflace.org/

Perhaps your group would like to assemble and learn how to make the needle lace leaves via videos and written instructions on Maggie's website. Every contributor will be listed and acknowledged in an effort to recognize lacemakers who have so often been anonymous.

I didn't know .... that Clover made these smaller size clips.

I had the Jumbo clips, and the Medium sized clips,
but this smaller size, recently acquired,  -- they are THE BEST.

Who knew?  My third helping hand ...

Can get them
easily thru Amazon,
and local craft stores.

This is another practice 'tat' from our first session.  Learned A LOT.
I used Lizbeth, Size 20 Colors 622 + 614.

The Intermediate Tatting, two sessions (two hours per session),
are offered via zoom thru the Lace Museum, Virtual Education.  There are multiple classes/workshops listed - some holiday theme, too.

The first session covered a variety of tatting.   Josephine knots, Dot picots, Double and Triple picots, Lock joins, Zig zag chains ... with more to come (beads, floating rings, split rings, SCMR, etc.).  Then, you can practice what you've learned with the charm patterns - clip the charms to a bag, necklace, etc.

Tatting ....

 Tat-A-Long:

A Blog about Tatting“1907” pattern from American Thread Company’s, Star Book for the Home #19.

Still on the first (inner) ring.   Stalled.
I"m trying to decide on adding a fiber
or - switching shuttles.

Thread chicken is usually a losing battle.

Lizbeth color 683, size 20.

LNS now closed...

Always a sad day when the local knitting store goes out of business.
When GF, Sue, and I visited on Wednesday,
found some fibers.

And other goodies.
Now a cover for my bobbin lace pillow on the
lace stand.

Colorful crochet/knitting cotton.   For dishcloths, dish dresses or buttons.

I've really enjoyed wrapping fiber
around rings and creating
some interesting buttons / ornaments.
Depending on the size of the ring or mould,
crochet cottons work well : )

[spirograph with fibers??]

Tatted Spiral Ornament

I finished the tatted spiral, which I put inside an ornament.  (see previous post).  The pattern, Tatted Spiral Ornament, is by a member of the Lafayette Lacemakers.

Supplies are 28 g wire, Size 40 Lizbeth Col. 601, Miyuki #DB602 + Miyuki #DB046 Delica beads.    Silver lined Red and Silver lined Green beads.

It is hanging on the window latch.

 Pretty in the window.

A Challenge to photograph!  This is on the table.
It is interesting to view the reflection of the tatting
inside the ornament.
