LNS now closed...

Always a sad day when the local knitting store goes out of business.
When GF, Sue, and I visited on Wednesday,
found some fibers.

And other goodies.
Now a cover for my bobbin lace pillow on the
lace stand.

Colorful crochet/knitting cotton.   For dishcloths, dish dresses or buttons.

I've really enjoyed wrapping fiber
around rings and creating
some interesting buttons / ornaments.
Depending on the size of the ring or mould,
crochet cottons work well : )

[spirograph with fibers??]

Button Lamb

Button Lamb c.Martha Ess 2008

Pattern can be found on Jane Eborall's blog:  Tatting Patterns by Jane Eborall
link here - http://www.janeeborall.freeservers.com/Animals.htm

I used Lizbeth Size 20, Col. 168, 7/16" Button, 3 beads.

Edit:   When I tatted the lamb, in the 12th Ring, there was a "DPB" - at the time, I didn't know what that meant.   Looked it up:   DPB=Down Picot w/Bead.    OK, now I know!

DPB= Make the first half of the double stitch twice
Then a picot with a bead on it
then the 2nd half of the double stitch twice.
Pull the picot forward and down to place the bead on the inside of the ring.

The next one I make may have a different look ; )   ----- EDITED 8 Feb 2021

Tatted again with Col. 168 Lizbeth Fiber (size 20)
3 beads, 7/16" button

Tollway Tatters ..... continued

Tatting by Lace-Lovin' Librarian, Diane:

Size 20 HDT by Yarnplayer:  Pansy

Oh, yes!!! If you are familiar with Diane's blog,
you know the pattern ....

Spinning Wheel -- Glass Mat
pattern located in

In addition to bringing part of her Spinning Wheel
collection for us to drool over ...
Diane was a busy bee at her sewing machine.
She created multiple Origami Bags !!!

The colors, so beautiful, we each chose --just ONE.
We will be decorating the bag flaps with our tatting.
I liked the green ... I think will be pretty with pink motifs.

(Diane and Marilee)

Tatting by Barbara:
I peeked at the pattern - I think it was a
fall leaf (my mind is so lost).

Barbara brought a couple (new - to - me) books to look at
This one on my "purchase one day" list.

AND she brought her tatted motifs in which she added
buttons.  Her necklace is lovely!!!  It is a star from Karey Solomon's book Tatting with Buttons.   The pieces Barbara made are in her album HERE.
Oh the projects are wonderful.   What fun to have them in hand!

(Diane, Marilee, Barbara (notice her star necklace?), and Denise)

Before we got together, I had gone on-line looking up
some FREE patterns (tatting using buttons) and, found these:

Lisa Trumble - Link HERE
Jane Eborall - Link HERE
Debi Pennington - Link HERE
Birgit - Link HERE

Denise was planning to make a pin (gift) by using a larger button,
glue a pin back on the button --- and
tat one of her favorite patterns around the button.
Denise also brought a few of her bookmarks - she tried
a different 'tail' from the one she sent me.   The colors are beautiful!!!!

I brought a heart, made by CathyB's Mom, Marlene.
You might be familiar with Cathy's blog, With Needle and Thread.
It looks like / similar to Debi Pennington's pattern.

No surprise ...
I tatted a heart using HDT by Yarnplayer.
Motif #69 from book
Minitats by Patti Duff

This was an attempt on Motif #68
(Minitats by Patti Duff)
I made a couple mistakes + plan to tat this heart again
(soon).

Cathy writes that she started blogging four years ago & I was one of the first to comment on her new blog Lucky Me!!! I'm thrilled to own this tatted bookmark, made by her Mom Did I mention I'm going to take some tatting lessons on October 22nd at 1:00 p.m.? I'm not real sure I'll be good at it I've always admired this art and will appreciate it more once I know how it is created!

It is 12 o'clock

... do you know where your pets are?
... nap time.

Thanks a million Melody M & Elaine H for sharing your stash. Nick is starting the L&L angel, Angel of Winter as I type this post. Nick went thru my DMC floss & I didn't have everything needed for the pattern. Of course, I went out & purchased the rest of the DMC! I went to walmart where the floss is 10cents/skein. I requested the special stuff from House of Stitches. I didn't have silver blending fil, whisper, or mill hill beads. The linen is 28-count dk blue [probably twilight blue]. Nick is going to give the linen a try. He has been working on either aida or evenweave in the past. This is what it will look like [eventually]:
photo that came with the pattern.

Also, thanks for the kind words re. Nick's dental surgery. Yesterday morning, he had four wisdom teeth removed. With the medications, he seems ok. Still swollen [think chipmunk cheeks] and sore ... however, is able to talk.

Green Day

Photo by Alex. Nikki & Button curled up on the blanket.

Spring Weather in NW Indiana: It has been cloudy & we had more snow flurries. A minute later, we see a bright & sunny day -- with bitter cold winds!!! brrrrr. DH is making pizza. Tori is out shopping. The boys perform tonight. I want to stitch!!!

Beatrice (lt) & Button (rt)

We are in a snow advisory until 8pm. If it keeps up at this pace, we should have quite an accumulation.

Button ... is "cute as a button"

The temperature is warmer at last. Button continues to either sleep on the floor vent [where the heat comes thru] or curl up next to the window. She was having such a hard time this a.m. Never mind she is 20 years old. We still love her.

This week, I got a good start on the household decorating -- I think I have the household in order [at last]. I have rearranged everything .... I mean everything. The last big job will be the photographs, and that cannot be hurried. I need to figure out a place for David's family photographs - his grandparents, etc. I'm thinking about some sort of acid free storage box. I don't think they should be in an album. They are already in nice paper folders [most of them].

My "To Do" List:
Buy silver polish / tidy up the eating utensils
Buy Secret Santa gifts for Alex
Buy David's gift
Use 15% off coupon at B&N by 12/10
Christmas Cards .... do I need another box???
downstairs-shelves
storage under stairwell
unwrap ornaments for tree
stockings on railing
holiday stuff on display
Ornament stitching & finishing
Organize TV cabinet
BR cabinet & shelf
ironing (again)
clean rest of the refrigerator
clean oven
organize paper photographs
Contact MIL re. David's quilt [lost the tag]
Clean Tori's room eta Saturday afternoon
