tatting SCMR size 20 vs size 10

Top size 10, Tourmaline, Marilee Rockley's on line  / Yarnplayer's HDT.  Lower one size 20, Lizbeth.   Col. 139, Fruit Fizz

These are my pieces, which will grow up to be wrist length or necklace length -- from Tatted Wrist On Line Class, pattern + instruction by

All my 'stuff' side-by-side.  I just need to remember the two patterns are a tad different -- I started with the swivel on the size 10.   Will attach the swivel on size 20 once finished with the 'length' which may be a mistake/challenging.   Will see when I get there.   And, there is yet another pattern for me to try - interlocking.    Pattern is available on Kelli's web site.
https://www.atwistedpicot.com/shop/p/wrist-body-strap-in-tatting?rq=strap.   Nice photographs of all the finished pieces.   Plus a GREAT picture of the interlocking one which I have not tried (yet)

Tatted bracelets / straps

A mess on my table.  I've got Marilee Rockley's HDT Tourmaline, in size 10 -- once I make practice pieces, planning to make a lanyard with "Tourmaline" - I have 2 skeins.  My friend, Beth, gave me some beautiful beads - should be attractive once completed.

These are practice pieces -- from Tatted Wrist On Line Class, pattern + instruction

I used my magnetic shuttles from Handy Hands - Dreamlit for the 1st & 2nd patterns.  Probably would have been easier to use a shuttle w/hook for the 3rd pattern - ie, Dreamlit.

The Beaded Bracelet & Charms pattern, is available on the Twisted Picot web site.    As are the Wrist and Body Strap patterns - there are FOUR patterns included.

After a little practice piece (pink fiber) I started a Self Closing Mock Ring (w/beads) using Lizbeth Size 20, Col. 139 with a large Clover Brand Shuttle.   The size 20 pattern is a tad different from the size 10 pattern; however, I wanted a narrow tatted piece --

Looks like the fourth pattern is an interlocking piece. Maybe later - will get thru that one.

Eventually, will choose one of the patterns for Yarnplayer's HDT.  These patterns are for swivel lobster claws.

Beaded Lace Bobbin completed & Congrats to Battatter!!!

Contrats to Carol - check out her fair entries on her blog post:

A challenge to roll the beads and sew on to the lace bobbin.   Pretty -- I purchased a 2nd bobbin and do not have enough beads for a "pair".

It looks like Fire Mountain Beads & Gems sells the 11/0 Delica beads, temporary out of stock in the color needed, so will be able to purchase more beads and make the 2nd bobbin.   I have more kits for bobbins, thinking to count out the beads to see if there are more beads needed for "pairs".  They are easy to string and fun to make.

Pattern:  Ivy Leaves.   Lace Bobbin Kit by Spangles.

Photo of Pattern - Ivy Leaves, before I wrapped on the bobbin for sewing.   Such a perfect fit.   Spangles - LINK HERE.

Beading my bobbins ....

 When I purchased the
kit - I wasn't sure how this would turn out.   I have a few rows to add - then will sew beads to the lace bobbin.  Kit is supposed to have enough supplies for two bobbins.

So, I purchased the kit and a matching lace bobbin.   Now, counting all the beads, comparing with the pattern ... I will not have enough beads for a 'pair'.   Very disappointing.

This is the kit
Ivy Leaves pattern
Company is Spangles

Chains, Rings + Joins: Second Session

Second Session:   Josephine ring (knot), Dimpled ring,
onion ring (2 different ways), hiding tatted ends - adding fiber - encapsulation, Floating rings, Self-closing mock ring (SCMR), adding bead to SCMR, Split rings.

I really enjoy the classes/sessions with Kelli.  She has wonderful instruction booklets, seems so organized and knowledgeable of the topics she is teaching.
While much practice needed on my end - she has a nice way of demonstrating
the 'how to' and explains the 'why' - with original patterns to try.

She has another session (virtual education) in June
tatting a sunflower with a very unique
center -- Yeah, of course I've already signed up!!!

Workshop with Kelli Slack via virtual education, Lace Museum.

My supervisors.   I'm always interested in when they come into the room (while I'm on / in zoom session).   They seem to prefer listening to people on the zoom videos.   This session, they were pretty quiet.

Callie gets really chatty when she brings toys into the room.

treasures

Nope.   Not a shuttle.   It is a plastic pin!  But I liked it and wanted it for my tatting tote.   A fun $5 find.

This lovely mug, with lace/button imprints was purchased at the Lubznik Art festival.   The maker said she uses crochet lace to imprint the pieces.  It is perfect in my sewing room.     https://www.undertheglaze.com/

Lucky me with talented friends.   GF Beth made this delightful scissor holder -- The specialty stitches are stunning!!!

If you follow tatting blogs ... you will be familiar with Umi and Tsuru's blog.   She has hosted a few giveaways & I was one of the winners!   I know, right?   A beautiful pearl bracelet - and I've worn it several times.
http://umintsuru.blogspot.com/2018/07/cream-pearl-bracelet.html.   Knowing you are familiar with the tatting -- don't hesitate to check out the jewelry, too!!!

Not much tatting to share .... My sister was here for a visit (August) and we visited many vintage stores, antique malls, 2nd hand places.   The little clear box and drawers is fun for shuttles.    These 2 shuttles were spotted (and purchased) by my sister.
My sister is great to shop with.   She knows the good stuff from the not-so-great stuff, and has a good eye for value.
Isn't this cool? ($7 container)    It looks like it is made from the same plastic as some of my tatting shuttles.

In the photo below, I made up some dish dresses for friends.   A spring cleaning sort of gift!!!  Knitting these charming dresses is a lot of fun.

Bluestem Beads

Visited "The Most Amazing Shop" ... yeah, that is on the business card!!! I wanted something different for my blue blouse. This blue blouse changes colors -- it is the fabric. It is a combination of blue and red/pink. I swear. So, I found this awesome pink flower thingie -- and two strands of reddish beads & one strand of yellowish beads. And ... somehow, I'm going to combine the three strands with this pink flower. Wish me luck.

A few years back, I made this amulet

Perhaps I could use the darker red beads and space the lighter color ones -- similar to what I did with the amulet. Hmmm. Might be interesting.
