No. 13

Pattern from
Tatting
by Myra Piper

After reading Diane's blog, Lace-Lovin' Librarian, I couldn't resist pulling out my book and selecting one of the motifs.   To see more designs, see her posts HERE and HERE.  Maybe even give her Tribute to Myra pattern a try - link HERE.

This is motif No. 13 - tatted with Lizbeth size 20, Color 170.
I'm very fond of this pattern.   I've done a few motifs & initially found them quite a challenge!    It is unfortunate this book is so hard to find.

Tatting with Honey Bunny

Yes, this is a motif from the On-Line Tatting Class,  (April 29th Class).     I made a practice piece,
and then tried a motif - which didn't want to lay flat.     I went over the pattern + realized I didn't have the center area tatted per pattern.
Tried again with Lizbeth, Size 20, Col. 624 + think it came out ok!  This motif is

Sonnenschein by
Petra Tornack-Zimmermann

from her book Happy Occhi
square motifs in tatted lace

In addition to the on-line class homework, I tatted up a little motif

with Lizbeth, size 20, Scottish Thistle.    It is based on motif #31, a pattern
from MiniTats (by Patti Duff), motif with six points.    When I realized I had not joined the first point and 6th point, I added a little extra.

misc

Jasper
(using cell phone)

He comes in - he wants out.
The night before last, he came in around Midnight + slept until around 5am
and wanted back out.

Last night, he came in around Midnight + slept until around 1am
and wanted back out.

I don't know where he goes - he keeps coming back!

Honey
(using cell phone)

Stays up on the desk and watches for Jasper's return.
They kinda ignore each other.

After seeing Diane's lovely tatted snowflakes,
I ordered the book - wow,

what a nice book of patterns!

Look what I found

Notice the little paw in the photo?

I was sorting thru 'stuff'
and our Honey Bunny watched me
until she dozed off.

This motif was tatted with
Flora size 50
Color 30.

Again, I added a few more rings
and chains - didn't quite understand
the 'repeat' in the pattern.

The pattern is in:

Sometimes, taking time to go thru
boxes + organizing is a good thing.

I think I have everything gathered up
and in one place, instead of tucked
here-n-there!!!!

Cupcake Pincushions & Randoms

Ok, not only did I finish up one cupcake pincusion ....
I have the second one ready to go.
I bought the kits at the Quilt Show from
Bluebird Meadows (vendor)
www.bluebirdmeadows.com

Probably would have been easier to assemble
had I purchased the instructions....
I think they are too cute when finished!!!

small bits of tatting

I am really tired of people asking
me what I'm going to 'do' with
the stuff I make - whatever I'm
creating, I'm doing it because I enjoy it.

I don't care if I finish 'it'

I don't care if I start 'it' and set 'it' aside

Whem I'm creating, there is a flow - and
that is the best part of my day,
before turning in for the evening,
spending some creative time to put aside
all the stressors during the day

I found a few styles of
cards at the local Hallmark store -
with open round areas in the middle.

They sell stickers - I sew bits of
tatting to the cards.

I continue to share with family & friends
who seem to love me no matter what I'm into!

I joined the Ring of Tatters
and got my booklet in the mail.

Not sure if I can manage any of the patterns (yet)!!!

I'm going to attempt more tatting next week
and give those split rings another go ...

Here is our Honey Bunny
taking advantage
of a brief
bit of sunshine.

She is fun to have around the house.

Honey

Honey was balancing on the end of the cedar chest
- on top of a stack of books,
reached out her paw
& swiped me!

She wanted attention NOW : )

Keiskamma Altarpiece

Should you find yourself near Huron St in Chicago, stop by St. James Cathedral to see the Keiskamma Altarpiece. My husband & I were in Chicago last Thursday for lunch. We took a stroll & visited the Cathedral. A very nice woman talked about the altarpiece & explained the variety of panels and motifs. It is on view thru May 11, 2008.

Nap time

Hard to get excited when the pets are napping. Cute to watch Nikki move over to Honey. She just curls up around him. So sweet
