Spring

(We are grateful.  The storms in our area were south of us & we have no damage.)

Had this out at the public library & didn't get much weaving accomplished.   Did not find any mistakes tho ...

The kit has fiber; however, I'm using Lizbeth, Size 20, Col. 159 & Col. 646 -- the kit comes with white fiber to complete four patterns.

c.2019 Heirloom Arts
Joan Brash kit & instructions.

Kit includes custom loom, needle, fiber, + four patterns/instructions.

This is an incredible book.  82 pages - and spiral edge.  Clear diagrams & lovely projects.  Charming cover!

I have had our 16mo old granddaughter here q o week.   Wow.   Never a dull moment! Lots of closed doors, putting things higher up!  Overtired once she is back home.   She will be back here on the 23rd.  Not much tatting to report.    Did manage one angel wing -- and will launch the 2nd wing!   One day I will have a completed angel.

3D Angel

Pulled this out & finished the circle, lots of cupping - not sure it will make a difference once assembled.   The 2 wings are next -- Using Lizbeth 20, Col. 601 and 11/0 Glass Seed Beads.

IOLI Dallas: Tatted Oraments

 Class One:  3D Angel

 Class Two: Log Carrier

 Class Three: Star/Flower

Class four was for finishing.   This photograph is from the convention web page - shows what the tatting I've started will look like (maybe by the holidays!)      Once I complete the tatted elements will assemble into the three ornaments.

Mini Tats: ( Modified ) Motif #58

I used Lizbeth, Size 20.
Col. 614 Lemon Lt.

Modified Motif #58 from

 Of Course!   I should have
used folded cardboard or this tatting tool (which was hiding in my tool box).
Would have made This Motif, #56, easier.  I thought I had
the thread lengths ok - yet, once tightened the rings,
threads stretched longer.

This one (with bare threads) looks better.    Motif #40 from Mini Tats book.
Lizbeth Fiber
Color #170 Pineapple Parfait, Size 20.

These are some of the Mini Tats I've done (so far).  Have a few holiday patterns which I plan to create this Fall or Winter.

Tatting: Comparing fiber sizes

Blue Square Motif - Size 80 (lost label)
Dark Red Butterfly - Size 20, Lizbeth color 670
Round Motif - Size 40:   Lizbeth color 622

My trial(s) were created by me - to find a finer fiber that I could tat in order to complete a button.   Usually, I choose a size 20 fiber.   Wanted to try finer fibers.  I found the size 80 a challenge to control.    The 40 was easier for me to manage.   I wanted to tat a small motif and apply it to a covered button.   (without it looking clumsy.)
