Movies

David & I enjoyed this movie:
We checked out a few DVDs last week, during the Boyz Spring Break. I liked this one the best:

As for this DVD, I think the BOOK was better. A lot better--IMO!!

And, really, this was too bleak. I know, I know. But still, very bleak. Both the boyz said it was too slow -- I think all of us wanted to give up on it 1/2 way thru.

Curse of the Golden Flower

What an interesting movie. DH, Alex & I went out last night ... never mind the snow flurries and near-zero temperatures. Brrr. So cold.

French Club

One of my fav things about the boys going back to high school, is the French Club. Their teacher takes them to foreign films! And, lucky me, I am able to tag along.Alex tells me that Valparaiso University will be starting their foreign films in September
According to Alex, the first film this season will be Butterfly ....
I looked online & THINK this is the one which will be shown. more info on this film HERE

If I obtain more details -- I'll post them. Last season, adults paid $6.00 for tickets. The films were in a nice room - large screen - comfy seats. Plus, as Alex says, if the movie sux, the snacks are great!

Entertainment books are on sale NOW ... fundraiser for the French Club. They are $20.00/each. Want one? The coupons are for local stores, restaurants, etc.

Fun read & recent DVD choices

Total Chick Lit & parts of it are totally funny. Web site [with chapter one] HERE

Recent DVDs ....

Kiefer Sutherland as Paul Gauguin : )

After reading the book, Alex & I watched the movie [which was very close to the book w/kewl special effects]

Plus a couple classics by Hitchcock -- DH & I enjoyed both of these! Alex gave up on the 39 steps; however, did enjoy Shadow of a Doubt.

DVD nite

Alex selected this from the movie rental place
And, he asked me if I wanted to view it ... ok, I say, it has Brad Pitt. And, my head cold is quite terrible. All I want to do is rest.
This is really good!

DH went online and found a couple places that have Pan's Labyrinth [Alex wants to see it : )]. DH is interested, too.
I'm near the very end of this novel. It is not really my type of book. Guns, violence, drugs ... not really my fav reading material. The author is very good, though, and the story is quite interesting. Once hooked, I just wanted to read the whole thing -- never mind the violence sprinkled in.

Ice Storm & DVD/Movie week-end

Alex was entertained by this squirrel -- raiding the bird seed!!

Tori arrived Friday afternoon. We picked up Thai food [carry-out] b/c Tori wanted to see the final episode of Grey's Anatomy. Followed by The Departed DVD.

On Saturday, Nicholas made his famous Quiche - DH cooked out on the grill. Alex picked out l'enfant as he is totally into foreign films. We viewed this DVD on Saturday during the ice storm. Lots of ice ... not much damage, just a few large branches fell.

Sunday, I made an early meal [chicken, stuffing, veggies, fruit] Tori got her ride back to IU.

DH, DS-Alex, and I drove into Lake County to see Volver. It was the 5pm show. We were back in time to watch THE awards show.

Lately, I've seen several movies, so, I"m movied out. Alex wants to get his hands on Pan's Labyrinth. I want him to focus on studying for his final exams this week : )

"Mom, watch it with me"

OK, Alex received this DVD from his Grandmother. Wheeler High School is going to have six performances in March [over two week-ends]. Alex said he is one of the skateboarders (which made me laugh). He said the Director is moving people around, and he may do other things in the show.

I asked Nick if the Band was getting involved & I got 'the look'. I'm not sure what that is all about....

And, yeah, it was really cute & I enjoyed the DVD. OK Alex??? I said I like a DVD. Mark it on the calendar.

DIVA

At last, got to watch my new DVD. I own one DVD ... this one. I saw this movie at the theatre 25+ years ago. The movie is from a book by Daniel Odier. It is a romance, drama, musical, and sometimes comedy all rolled into one film. [ Complete with a chase scene. ]

I I bought this record 25 years ago -- yes, it is an album -- not a CD. I didn't know it had a re-release in CD format. Now, the prices are out-of-sight
