The perle coton is done --- now to the finishing ....

The shapes are filled in.   Will need to pull away part of the fabric next.  Starch the pieces.   Remove the fabric & take off the frame.

Nanduti patterns for Christmas

Creating the large circle (2.5") with knots.   Pattern is an Avati poty inspired design to make a snowflake.  I'm using DMC coton perle 12, Color 3823.  I made two of the 6 snowflake spokes.  And I'm wondering if I should make the outside rim in the same color - or use one of the greens or red.   Decisions.

Nanduti Patterns for Christmas

Creating the large circle (2.5") with knots.   Pattern is an Avati poty inspired design to make a snowflake.  I'm using DMC coton perle 12, Color 3823.

As for the other two smaller (1.5") circles:
I added an edge of red knots
using DMC Coton Perle No. 8, Color 321.   This is an Arapaho Joaju pattern - made to create a ring of holiday leaf.

I added an edge of green knots using DMC Coton Perle No. 8, Col. 890 - which is similar to the Anchor evergreen color (0218).  This was on the little flower design.  The petals remind me of a french manicure.

Nanduti Patterns for Christmas (2nd session)

I'm using DMC Coton Perle 12 - Color 3823 for the spokes and diamond
knotted shapes inbetween the petals.

DMC Coton Perle 8 - Color 321 for the petals [(Daisy / Margarita (flor de)] & woven necklace pattern (Mbo'y o collar) - rim of circle.
DMC Coton Perle 8 - Color 3345 for knotted circle edges.

The knotting w/3823 is a challenge - pretty though.  Should be the last part of this circle.   The next circle - snowflake pattern .... stay tuned.

IOLI Class: Marilee Rockley

Saturday's class taught by Marilee Rockley.

Pattern:  Beaded Path by Marilee Rockley
Fiber:  Size 10, Color 650--Denim Blue Lt, Lizbeth

I have to say, when Marilee says she provides the kit for class ... it has EVERYTHING!  Fiber, Crochet Hook, Tatting Shuttle, Beads, Bead Mat, Findings, Color pattern (2pg).   It has everything needed to create a set:

earrings, bracelet, necklace.

I thought the class would be a struggle for me; however, Marilee teaches with grace and patience -- in no time, I was able to get the pattern going.   All chains & beads.   The bracelet is tatted, need to add the jewelry findings after I end the tatted fiber ends.

So impressed was I,
I gave her a donation for an xtra kit!   This is a lovely color combination.  A wood-rose fiber and  beads.   She offered lovely combinations - hard to select just one ; )

Some purchases from vendor, Black Sheep at Orenco.  (Was told ) Yellow Heart top left-flat shuttle.  Lacewood top right.  Purple heart lower left.  Myrtle lower right.

Magical edging keeper .... Link Here:   http://www.blacksheepatorenco.com/store/p107/Magical_Edging_Keeper-_ebony.html.

This one is purple heart.   It is the perfect size for tatted edges.   Probably will work with knitting/knitted edges, too.    (honest - just had to have one to try).

Above:  At one of the dinners, participants were asked to wear hats w/lace theme.   Each participant received a hand made "hat" which is actually a magnet - for their lace pillows, or notion bags.   Sweet lady bug fabric ; )    and charming hat band.

Tatting Workshop

Victorian Drop Necklace
Bead Tatting Class
by Kathy Kirchner

Had a delightful day learning new tatting
techniques ... adding BEADS!

The class was in Clarendon Hills, IL
at the Public Library.

Was interesting to use a different fiber (silk)
add beads, and make chains without the flip.

Quite a challenge to read the pattern
w/o diagram - with a lot of notes, I
think I managed to grasp the concepts
and can complete the pattern.

Enjoyed meeting + chatting with the
other students.

More classes tomorrow at Lace Day in Illinois.

I am signed up for Bobbin Lace. Keep your fingers crossed I can figure it out!

In addition to the classes, there are lace demos, lace exhibit,
and SHOPPING w/the vendors.

Hope to see you there!
