Before I begin tatting a piece -- I pick up a shuttle and tat a small piece
... a small flower, butterfly, etc. These small lace samples are turned in to Lafayette Lacemakers. They are attached to cards and used during public lace demonstrations.
Do you warm up your hands with a small tatted piece -- then

Mmm no, it’s never occurred to me to do that, but I love your examples and the use they’re put to.
Can't say I've ever done it, no. I did forget how to wrap, etc. when I had stopped tatting for almost 8 years, and had to bring back muscle memory!
Love your little motifs and good to know they are all put to good use.
